Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.

Officers state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.

Police then found multiple other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Officials report initial examinations show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no clue as to its source; authorities are presently not aware of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the public for tips.

An important representative commented the vandalism made him speechless and needed to be addressed promptly.

"This incident hits the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a gunman aiming at residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
